Botanically speaking, most of the “nuts” we eat are actually fruit seeds (most culinary nuts are not botanical nuts).
Flowering plants (angiosperms) are land based plants that flower and produce seeds. All fruits are derived from flowering plants, while the green part of a plant can be referred to as “vegetable”. Not all flowering plants produce a fruit.
