Bananas Grow on Trees myth

Do Bananas Grow on Trees?

Bananas don’t grow on banana trees, rather the berries that we call bananas grow on the world’s largest perennial herb. This plant can grow up to 25 feet with leaves of up to 9 feet.[1]

A banana is a berry that grows on a large perennial fruiting plant (in the genus Musa). All berries are fruits, which is why this video describes the banana berry as a fruit.
