René Descartes was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist notable for the famous line “Cogito ergo sum” (I think, therefore I am). Aside from his famous meme-able one-liner, he is also known for his sizable contributions to philosophy and mathematics. René Descartes invented analytical geometry and the cartesian coordinate system (which is named after him).
